I wanted to create a safe space where we can discuss our struggles with anxiety and find comfort in realizing we are not alone. It’s one of those feelings that can obscure the light at the end of the tunnel and leave us stuck in our own thoughts. Given the current global circumstances, it’s not surprising that bouts of anxiety are becoming a norm for a lot of us.
Self-care has been my proverbial life-jacket during these uncertain times. There’s something about a cup of herbal tea, a good book, or simply allowing myself to curl up in bed a little earlier that brings me solace. Sometimes, I find peace in trying out new recipes or just sitting in silence, feeling the rhythm of my breath.
Writing has also been a huge help. Pouring my thoughts onto paper helps detangle everything that’s going up there. By visualizing it in black and white, it becomes less overwhelming. This may not work for everyone, but I assure you, recognizing your feelings and writing them down can be a powerful tool.
Let’s not forget, there’s also professional help, therapy, and medication available. It’s important to know there’s no shame in seeking help. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Realizing that you need assistance and reaching out for it is a strength. It’s okay to ask for help when you need it.
So now, I invite you all to share your strategies for dealing with anxiety.
