Ever find yourself quite unsure about how strict or lenient to be with the kiddos? Needless to say, parenting is challenging, and every day brings new lessons.
I believe there’s not a one-size-fits-all parenting style. Every kid is built differently, and so, what might work for the child next door might not work for yours. It’s essentially a personalised journey. We’re constantly trying to strike a balance between setting rules and also giving them some freedom to make their own choices.
Too much freedom might lead to kids who won’t respect limits and boundaries. On the other hand, being overly strict can backfire and limit their ability to explore, learn from their mistakes and develop their own character. It’s a bit of a tightrope!
Children need to learn discipline, responsibility, and respect. Simultaneously, they should be free to develop their interests, have some autonomy, and explore their potential without excessive limits.
How do you all navigate this spectrum? Do you have any tips or stories on finding the right balance between discipline and freedom? Have you noticed any nuances in how your own parenting style evolves overtime? It’d be wonderful to share our experiences and maybe learn something new from each other’s parenting journey.
