Just bought a smart speaker, and I’ve been blown away by the convenience it brings. Being able to control my lights, music, and even microwave all by voice is seriously impressive. However, I’ve been reading quite a lot about privacy concerns surrounding these devices. It got me thinking, are we trading too much of our privacy for convenience?
Devices like this are always listening, and while they say they’re only listening for their activation word, it’s still a bit disconcerting to think about. Additionally, are we sacrificing our ability to do things manually? I mean, there’s even a smart fridge. At what point does it stop being helpful and start becoming over-reliance?
On the other hand, I’ve realized how much time these devices can save. Not to mention, they’re incredibly useful for people with mobility issues.
Share your thoughts! I’m particularly interested in hearing about any smart devices you love and why, or whether you’ve decided to avoid them altogether.
