Dr Small
Your using ubuntu, you know that firefox 2.0 is in the ubuntu repos right Tongue
Ubuntu repos??
Repo is short for repository.
a repository in this sense is a place on the internet storing massive amounts of software.
So does that mean it auto installs to your computer and you don't have to download it or what?? :S
It downloads it to your computer, and installs it, but you don't have to compile it, with:

cd folderhere
$ ./configure

All you have to do is run:
sudo apt-get install firefox

and it checks and sees if you have it, if not, you can download it and install it.
