Try going to Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption > and check both
Use SSL
Use TLS
cause that's for protocols.

They were both already checked.

Do you only get the error message on this forum, or just about every other website URL you load?

I get it three to five times when I open the browser (before it actually opens). I also get it when I right click and open a link in a new tab. I sometimes get it when I click on a link but I haven-t seen a pattern.
And NOW I just discovered that, when I try to enter an apostrophe on the keyboard, instead of entering the text, it opens the Find in This Page bar at the bottom. The bar closes by itself after about a second.

It doesn't sound like it's a problem with the dictionaries, (although if some file was corrupt or missing this might begin errors), but too me, it sounds like Firefox has a sever problem.
I would personally try, if you don't mind trying it, to uninstall firefox (which I know you've done many times) and download and older version and install it. If it works, then something was wrong with the 2.0.0.1 on your machine.
If you don't know how to download an older version, just go to:
http://getfirefox.com
and you need to right-click on the button that says, "Download Firefox - Free" and copy the url.
Paste the url in a new tab, and change the spot in it, where it says "2.0.0.1" to "1.5.0.8"
Here's an example, but don't use it, because I'm on linux and it won't work for you.
But for an example, here it is:
^^^ That's what I got when I copied it... Now, look below to see what I changed it too.
Just change the spot from "2.0.0.1" to "1.5.0.8" like I did, and open the link.
(1.5.0.8 is the newest older version that you can try. If you want to use another version, just change the numbers to your version number ;) )

Thanks, Dr Small. I think I've fixed the problem. The problem appears to be caused by a "theme" called Lolifox. But it wasn't a theme at all--it was an extension. I couldn't find it in themes because it was listed in extensions. I finally founded it and DUMPED it. I hope that fixes the problem.
I did what you said, Dr Small and that's how I discovered it. When FF 1.5 loaded, I got a popup that listed the themes/extensions that incompatible with FF 1.5 and guess what was on the list? Yep. I reinstalled FF 2.0 and opened it in the safe mode found the wretched extension and REMOVED it.

Well, glad you got it fixed.
Seems like other people are having that problem too, someone else left a comment before you:
I see you said you can't use the default theme?
You mean it just won't let you use it or what?

007 Wrote:Do not install, it is malware. Everytime I started Firefox I had to click away 4 or 5 boxes with ('this URL is not valid'). Everytime I opened a new tab the result was the same, a box with an alert. The about:blank page is being affected by this add-on it seems. Highly irritating, to say the least.
I see you said you can't use the default theme?

The button Use Theme was inactive on the default theme and it was the only theme that appeared to be present. I had uninstalled all the other themes.
