Ubuntu Tweak is an application designed to config Linux Ubuntu easier. It provides many useful desktop and system options that the default desktop environment doesn't provide. You can use it to change the appearance of your login screen and many other things. It's available for download here:

I absolutely love Ubuntu Tweak. Too bad I use Mint now. It'd be nice if he released a version for KDE, but I use GNOME more than KDe anyway. I assume some functions of Ubuntu Tweak would work on Mint, but it'd be nice if one were developed specifically for Mint.
