I would like to hear your opinion which of the Ubuntu variations is the best? normal Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu Netbook Remix, or Kubuntu Netbook Edition?
Lubuntu. If you aren't gonna use Ubuntu, just use it ;)
I am a huge fan of Ubuntu. I like the Gnome desktop better than the K Desktop Environment. Besides, you can always install the other desktops through the terminal. For example if you want the Kubuntu desktop, but you are in Ubuntu that just type this in the terminal:
Code:
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

The same with LXDE, and others. Be warned with KUbuntu, it takes a lot more resources then Gnome does. LXDE has some of the KDE flash, but still simplistic, and light. XFCE pure installs are amazing, fast, and most likely the best ever made, for lower end machines.
Ubuntu ftw. But ive heard xunbutu is also good
I used Kubuntu 9.10 for about 6 months and I started to hate the layout of it. So I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and was pretty satisfied until I saw the Netbook Remix on the site. Since installing that a month ago, I haven't changed. I love it.
Well, I think it the best one is the one that came out pretty recently.

The new Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
My friend got it today. He told me it is really good. You can try it for free at
http://www.ubuntu.com/
He made his laptop so it could boot up with 2 different operating systems. (windows and linux)
I hope you try it. I am about to. It looks pretty good.

I love Ubuntu 10.04 with LTS.
It depends what you want, Ubuntu is the best imo. But you then have the netbook remix for netbooks (smaller screens) and Kubuntu for slower speced PCs.
