Plasma takes a lot of power to produce, has slow response times and has a limited lifetime of 30,000 hours.
LED... I have never actually been advised against purchasing an electronic product before. I went into the shop and they told me not too! The heat that comes off those things is enough to set your house on fire! Haha.
I'd go for an LCD display.
What was your source for the LED's? LED tvs actually are more energy efficent and offer a greater range of clarity and contrast then any other tv.
Why choose a plasma though? They do naturally have a higher refresh rate at around 600Hz but lcds offer better viewing angles higher contrast and don't have the notorius burn in....

Don't they have borderless TV's, they're pretty good. I also think LG has the 3D TV, but I wouldn't recommend buying that yet as it might still have some bugs.

Two different stores. Most of them talk crap but when they don't contradict each other and advise against buying their latest product, I would believe them.

You need to tell us how far your set is from the couch. Also how much light is coming into your room. What types of programming you watch the most. Usually split up by percentage. This way folks can guide you in the right direction.heating repair

Hopefully my Plasma TV doesn't go out. I just started looking at a few threads of people talking about pixels going out. If you haven't already bought a TV you may want to do some research in getting a LED TV instead.
