It doesn't have a "Tab menu" on the side menu.

Are you talking about Omni's mybb tabs plugin?
Wow that's some shitty tutorial way to much manual work, MyBB has a plugin system for a reason.
Anyway
<td class="tcat at tab" title="Category 1" style="cursor: pointer;" rel="cat_1">Category 1</td>
cat_1 should be the forum ID so if you wanted the tab to display fid 3 you would change it to cat_3 I think.
admin cp options or plugins is all I can say
There is an alternate plugin which brings out the same result as Omni's paid tabbed menu plugin. And the one I'm talking about is free of cost.
I will make a thread about it.
