practice and perseverance. its my fourth day with no qwerty and i dont have to look already, though i am still slow
but even after 4 days i can already feel the efficiency and that makes me wanna get more comfortable with it
PROTIPS: memorize a-z before remotely trying to slow chat/post, and avoid IM chats(you will only frustate yourself and more likely to give up)
try not to switch back to qwerty at all, thus forcing yourself to learn it, just think of the slowness as being worth it ^__^
print a copy of the dvorak and tape it to your monitor for reference(what i have done)
i have been using these sites to practice:

Hehe, Nyx- got me into Dvorak just a little while ago...here I am now typing this post at ~10wpm. I won't give up though. :3
It just takes time to train your fingers as your used to qwerty. After you get used to it you can most likely get upto 60-90 a minute if your an average typer. I would say expect a 15-30 percent gain in typing speed over qwerty.

me and psycho do about 105 wpm average on qwerty
we have sort of hit our cap

Well apparently you are a better then average type and should be able to hit just over 140-150. Its just a matter of time before you get fully used to the keys and get out of the habbits of qwerty.
why learn a different keyboard when you have the one you already know how to use right in front of you?

I'm excited thinking about it! It'll be worth it in the end.

Dvorak is way more efficient than QWERTY. It enables you to type much faster than QWERTY once you're used to it. QWERTY was designed to stop typewriters from jamming if I recall correctly. We aren't on typewriters anymore, fortunately...so why bother with QWERTY? Because people are too lazy to switch. Also, who said you needed a whole new keyboard? Just change your layout in your OS.
P.S. this post was written using the Dvorak layout. It took me forever, I've only been using it for a day. At least I have the keys memorized! ^_^
Oh jeez now I wish my keyboard had interchangeable keys >_>

Nah, just get the stickers. They're transparent so it shows both the Dvorak and regular letters. Your OS should also support different keyboard layouts. I didn't even bother with the stickers and I'm doing fine. Just learn how to touch type in the process.
