You guys are just missing the point. It's only hard to use at first. QWERTY was hard to use at first too, you just don't remember. Once you're used to Dvorak you should be typing much faster than QWERTY. Dvorak is more natural once you're used to it. QWERTY was made for the sake of preventing typewriters from jamming, not optimizing typing speed. It's up to you and how determined you are. If you want to learn it you should stop using QWERTY all together.

I would like to try it, except at work my keyboard is QWERTY so I see it being a major struggle to use both types

you change the keyboard layout in the control panel, you dont carry around a dvorak keyboard xD it is very fast and easy to switch.
