There's no reason why you can't organize a thread and create a poll after all the submissions are entered to vote for the winner.

An internal member to member thing.

I would love see a contest, but no I wouldn't participate.

I wouldn't enter it but I would love to see the entries and results.

I would most likely participate, if other people do.

I'm going to make a SOTW, by the members for the members.
And we'll see how it turns out.

Contest would be nice, but I wouldn't participate. I would suck.
