Is there a working alternative to Hotspot Shield in Ubuntu 9.10?
There is Tor, I mean it's slow but at least there is no advertising at every page like with HotSpot Shield.

I have never seen a single advertisement, ever with Hotpot shield. I think it is because I have the Adblock Plus firefox add-on and the WOT (Website of Trust) add-on which stops the adverts.
You can use Greasemonkey + hotspot ads block ads to block it.. Btw I use CyberGhost VPN sometimes.. Free users only got 1GB bandwidth /month.. Sucks but wth, it's free..

Give Jondo a try. http://anonymous-proxy-servers.net/
Tor is really slow, but it changes IP every 20 secs. Try it.
