Recently, ive been unable to connect to certain sites on this computer. Msn, hotmail, and microsoft websites to name a few. However, my labtop which is connected to the same network can connect to said websites without issue. So i don't think its a problem with my network.

Ive ran a system restore in an attempt to fix the issue, but nothing happened. Ive ran scans with Microsoft Security Essentials and Spybot Search & Destroy, but nothing turned up. Ive also ran the Microsoft Safety Scanner, but it turned up nothing.

(I had to replace .com with *com because of the URL limitations)Incidentally, upon starting HijackThis, an error that it can't write to the Hosts file pops up. I did what it said to attempt to fix it, but i couldn't find the "HijackThis reports" it was talking about.

Make sure your computer is up to date. It might be a problem with your DNS settings. Try changing your DNS settings to use Google public DNS. You can find information here.

My computer's up to date. I changed to google public DNS, and could connect to one of the sites that i was having issues with. However, when i tried some others i still could not. Any other suggestions?

I see you are using internet explorer. Try another browser. www.google.com/chrome

Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\host
open with note pad and reset it as default.
