any other info u may need to help just ask please and thank you.

One question, are you behind a router with many other computers???
Another thing that may help is changing the DNS settings to Google DNS.
yes a linksys router... my desktop is hardwired the laptops use wireless and we all experience the same off and on connectivity problems...
Try this, it would most likely work.
Change the Desktop to connect via a different IP such as 192.168.1.255. Along with other devices that go through, I think it might be that the computers get the IP but fight for the internet.
Change it to a static ip? and then what shud i put for the dns server?

is there anything i can change in the router settings that may help also?

Both can help in a way, usually the DNS, 192.168.1.1 & 192.168.1.2. It always works for me.
For the Router, there should be a way to where you can make the computers that join the network with the MAC Address get a set IP that you could set. Also helps improve security as it is a way to tell people that connect can't access the router or anything.
i was in my router by going to 192.168.1.1 and copied this ....

Router Information

Firmware Version: 1.0.02 build 007, Jan 21 2010

but now as usual sometimes when i try to connect to my router i get a:

500 Internal Server Error
Some of this information is irrelevant.

Did you ever change the DNS settings on the router to Googles & did you also change your computer's IP???
One more thing I'd recommend looking at is what is called a MAC Filter on the Router.
my router is set as default configuration and i changed my ip adress jus now like u said

but i cant connect to my router because it says 500 internal server error
Settings arn't right that you changed.
Screenshot, could you take of the configuration or maybe Teamviewer if you have it???
