Nevets04:
If you're stuck on 2.2.1 firmware, you're going to have to upgrade to 3.1.2, which costs $5.00, pretty good deal considering it was $10.00 a while ago. Make sure you back up anything you need, I'm pretty sure it will ask you before upgrading. To check your version, go to iTunes, click on your iPod, then read the version number.
Also, what OS are you running?

Ok, you have to re-restore your firmware to 3.1.2 before it will work I believe. It won't work if you're trying it with apps, music, etc. It might take a while, I'd say 5 minutes.

Actually that is false. I did mine with apps on it and everything.
I honestly don't know what is wrong Nevets04.

That's weird. =| I've tried it at least 2-3 times just regularly with a 3G iPhone. It would give me that same screen with a wire pointing to iTunes. I re restored it to the original firmware and it worked.
I was using it on Windows 7 64 bit.
