I can't back up anything with floppy and cd is not working. Also my machine does not allow me to update any more either I tried all the hot fix suggestions from microsoft etc. I run anti virus and spyware protection and everything says its clean.
Looks like there is an internal problem in your CD/DVD drive . I recommend opting for an Hardware Engineer support because you may not get correct solution from us. But I find it normal these days that CD/DVD drives goes on repair after few years and it requires an replacement.
I had the same problem, It's believe it or not the disk drive's drivers, mine got deleted by a virus but I restored them from my manufacturer's website.
