i duel boot both, my school just upgraded last year from XP to 7
No windows 7 ultimate is much better than windows XP. It boots up quicker, and does many things faster. It runs perfectly on my laptop with 8 GB

i use XP at school and 7 at home
yeah, but only on my Microsoft virtual PC
I am not much impressed with search feature of window7
If you're an inexperienced computer user and don't want anything fancy, go with XP.
Otherwise, use 7.
I use windows 7, On my netbook i have xp.
I much prefer Windows XP over 7, it's so much more stable, and is just a beautiful operating system.
I use Windows 7 64-bit at home and XPSP3 at work.
I like XP because of its simplicity (easier navigation, as someonesaid earlier), and having worked with it since its release, I'm comfortable both using and troubleshooting it. I could quite happily continue to use it.
However, Windows 7 seems to be a much better product. It boots up/shuts down quicker, and includes some functionality to improve web browsing performance with IE8/9 (assuming you use IE - I tend to use Firefox!).
I also tried Vista once - and reverted back to XP after 2 days!
