I backup before I reformat My music is on my iPod, so I can just extract it from there when I need to. Otherwise, I don't really back up often. However, I just purchased a 1tb HD, so I'm in the process of getting all my movies, books, ect onto it

I have the following drives on my PC:
C:\ - Main Drive.
D:\ - External USB, used for backup data.
E:\ - Current OS, but with 4 Windows installation folders,
Windows, Windows0, Windows1, Windows2 - (Current OS).
F:\ - Local Disk - Used previously for older Windows OS.
G:\ - 2 GB USB stick.
L:\ - Local Disk - Used previously for older Windows OS.
M:\- Recovery Parttion.
N:\- CD/DVD Drive.
I backup now and then, but maybe not as often as I should.
I did begin a big backup, just after I got the external USB,
but have found it hard keeping up, with all of the additional applications that I have installed since then.
But it is about 80%-87% completed though, and it's just a
case of actually stopping, and copying the remaining files.
But seeing as I'll always keep updating my system, this will be an ongoing practice, which I don't really do on a regular basis. Maybe I should.

Myself i use multiple harddrives. Some just dedicated backups and some temp ones.
As for crap like sites and forums well i manually back them up nightly like clockwork .
For my system i use firefox and thunderbird so Moz backup works great and i use it daily.
But i am one of those people who format there system all the time.
To be quite honest i rebuilt my pc today and took pics of every stage for a tut i am making for here. (expect tomorrow)
But yea im a daily backup person. Only because i have woke up too many times with problems lol.

So you wouldn''t mind losing all your data then?
Some people have possibly collected software and text/other files over the years, together with either graphics or music files that they might have made themselves,
or maybe have a large MP3/CD/DVD collection, and I guess that nearly all of them, wouldn't want to lose those things.
I'm not sure why, but I have kept, every software application that I've ever installed, more or less, with the exception of the ones that I didn't like
and have still got stuff like the installation floppies for Windows 3.1 and DOS 6.0, among other things for example.
But maybe you may change your mind at some point about keeping things, but I'm not certain as to why you wouldn't want to.
