I don't use Yahoo, so i'm not sure, if you see images on other programs, then I don't know what to tell you here.

It's only happening with Yahoo messenger.
but i tried the same YM in my friends PC (both XP & vista) and it worked fine there.
Try to use Trillian im or First Uninstall your yahoo messenger completely with
Revo Uninstaller
then reinstall again.
Why would you use yahoo? Anyways, try to clean it out with ccleaner.
