I got an Asus netbook for a birthday present and I am happy with it, the only thing I dont like is that the screen is small, and no disc drive. But it is portable, and good for what I need to do with it.

It depends, if you want something as close to your home pc get a laptop and if you want something light, versatile, easy to get around with (the whole idea of a portable computer in essence) get a netbook.

exactly Conspiracy. They aren't really meant to be fast processing computers to run massive programs. They are meant to go on the intranet and check your email and stuff like that.

The only complaint I have against netbooks is that due to a small keyboard/screen it can take a bit longer to do everyday tasks.

Laptops are easyer to type on, those mini books are nice and small but im used to the big things.

i have never had a netbook, and my main computer is my laptop. i have a desktop but dont really use it since it is the familt computer.
i was thinking about getting a netbook this summer but saw that the are overpriced for what they are.
if i were to get a netbook i would install a linux distro on it, and i dont need to store much on it considering i have a 1tb external hardrive that ways like a pound and is about 5x5x1/2 inches.
maybe i will reconsider a netbook.
i do travel lot and my 1725 inspiron is big kinda annoying for that.

gunna get the dell mini, but with 6cell not 3cell battery, and windows 7 not xp. then when i get it ima customize so much.

Anyone know of a net book that has more than just 1 or 2 Gigs or RAM, or a faster processor. I know they aren't meant for doing heavy tasks or anything like that, but the ones I have used, couldn't handle simultaneous programs at once. I would like to get one for simple quick website editting. Something that can handle WAMP, Filezilla, Notepad and one or two browsers at one time. It seems that the ones I have messed with can barely do IE8.

2gigs is more then enough to do that lol, my main computer, dell inspiron 1720, has 2gigs and runs amazingly fast even when running 5 or six programs at once

Yea I would like a netbook I have my laptop which is nice yes but hard to travel with carry to school ect. I have seen many people at school with netbooks. Usually they have a netbook or a MacBook error.
