Hey Guys.

Well, i have a Toshiba Qosmio. I've had it around 2 years, and it has started playing up.

When i do simple tasks such as: Google Chrome, Rythem Box Music Player and the thing over heats and turns off. During the period of running Windows 7-Ultimate i couldn't have the Aero Theme on, it would over heat and shut off within about 5 minutes.

It used to be a great laptop for films and gaming now it can't handle minecraft.

To a certain degree i am rather skilled with computers, and i think i've done something to the processor. It's the right hand side of my laptop gets boiling hot and then smells of burning.

I recently booted Linux-Zorin, to keep the Cpu usage down. It's doing nothing, any reason why this is happening?

It came originally with Vista-Home Premium. After maybe a year of having it, i booted Windows 7:Ultimate x86.
Maybe you overcharge the battery.so now the battery is died or it's an CPU problem.I suggest you to bring it to a computer repair shop or Bestbuy.
You may wanna open it up and clean the dust off the fan, may be to much on it and it's not letting it cool down the way it needs.

Thanks for the support guys, I'll check the fan. I don't actually keep the battery in. I remove it and keep the charger in.
Like they said, check the fan.

Did you try overclocking? Or something trying to increase processor speeds?
I did not no, I've literally done nothing. Other than change the OS a few times.
My laptop was originally designed for XP and I used it for a while with XP before upgrading to seven and I noticed that my laptop was always hotter after I did the OS switch. You say that yours was designed for vista so you shouldn't be having that problem.

This is what I do to keep my laptop from overheating:

(It is a bowl)
I'm sorry dude, but that's just freakin hilarious! I have a cooling tray, also... does anyone know how to open a Toshiba Qosmio? I've un done bolts but it's like not moving.
Fan can be the problem! check the BIOS to see which component makes the heat so high! Try to get a new cooling system! But best is to take somewhere and let professionals take care of it!
