Full Version: What memory to buy?

Hi,

I just bought and asus motherboard (m4a89gtd pro usb3) DDR3

Now on asus website they say the following:
4 x DIMM, Max. 16 GB, DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1333/1066 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel memory architecture

And in the qualified vendor list, the only 2000MHz memory is the following:
TW3X4G2000C7GT

That memory in the qualified vendor list is not available anymore.

Now some people say that I must buy any 240pin 1333MHz memory and overclock it to 2000MHz but my argument is, why would ASUS put 2000MHz memory in the list??

What made this TW3X4G2000C7GT memory so special?
Is it the timings?
is it the vendor?

Would it work if I buy HyperX T1 2000MHz memory ?

My main interest is games so I would like to have memory that runs at 2000MHz, and I would like a pair of 2GB chips. (total 4GB memory)

Thanks for the advice
Big Grin I really want 16GB RAM xD
I say you get 16GB RAM now that's sexy!
Yes I would not mind getting 16GB but what speed??
16gb RAM is overkill. Don't get it. I know people with $4000 setups, and they do hardcore gaming. They never go over 4. I would buy 6 at max. Don't waste the money.
4 is enough, 16 is just going overboard
