I will suggest you to aquire a free host, before going for a paid one just to get some experience out, and to make yourself a better understanding in the future plans.

Mhm, I use a free host, but that's because as Omni stated, I'm a teen and don't have much of a choice. Eventually I'll get a paid one though.
Yes, but as I said, "before" going to buy a paid host, first take some time to use Free Host so that you may have some experiance in managing the server.

Right. Or you could use Apache and host it on your own computer Roflmao
Setting up your own LAMP server in a VM is always fun.

Well, in this case, you have experience only on local servers Tongue

If you want to be more advanced in managing the servers, then I suggest you to use any Free Host like 000webhost or 110mb.com etc

Well i own all 3. Paid free and locally hosted.

My choice is this.

1 = forums PAID
2 = personal PERSONAL
3 = experimental FREE

I use all 3. And have for years. I like paid for security, backups and speed.
I use personal for tweeking and things i want to play with.
I use free for new domains i want to get out there and are not in a rush to push.

Simple really. All 3 have a purpose.

1and1 have a lot of horror stories floating around the net, especially if you purchased your domain from them, and want to cancel your hosting, you end up loosing your domain 85% of the time.

That doesn't make any sense, you aren't TOUCHING the server - they're giving you a nice front-end and possibly FTP support.
Mmm, iintens, I completely missed that post by that SPAMer. Local servers are not my favorite thing, but, they are infinitely better than free hosting. Having any type of shared hosting does not give you any ability to learn to manage a server.
Free hosts are good to start off with if your a beginner. Also, I think that there are some good free hosts out there that are probably just not stable enough to become big.

I agree with you and still saving up to get hosting at hostgator Smile
