This is a personal poem about my once daily struggle with insomnia. I could never sleep normally, I always thought and thought. My recent illnesses have somewhat corrected my sleeping issues temporarily. Now I am starting to face them again. This is what insomnia means to me.

Midnight tolls, I'm wide awake.
I wander through the day while the city sleeps.
I hear no sounds, just my shallow breath.
The clock strikes one.
I gather my thoughts and they flit away in a sigh.
An hour passes by and nothing has stirred.
The clock now rings three.
Deafening silence occupies the night.
My neighbors caught in sleeps grip.
I close my eyes, minutes pass like days.
Thoughts making the night echo.
I lose track of time as the clock strikes six.
I see the days first rays. Lifes first calling.
My neighbors stir, the critters wake.
Two hours pass, the city is up and running.
I close my eyes, finally.
Finally, there is silence.
Suddenly I'm feeling kinda sleepy lol
Great poem, with a wonderful concept Smile
