i have use SMF before on my forums, 2.0.
Recently i updated to MyBB and i think thier both are preatty good.
Just try diffrent things and choose what best for you.
vbulletin has a lot of unwanted options, go with MYBB.
In my opinion MyBB is the best free forum software.
MyBB is free. why is it payed in the thread.?

MyBB is a great forum script. It's powerful and has amazing plugin support. Not to mention its frequent updates!

Nothing, the user control isn't as easily navigational as MyBB, and also MyBB is free, and more customizable. I would even choose PhpBB over vBulletin for it's functionality, even though it's a little more exploitable, it's still a far better way to go than vBulletin from my experience.
vBulliten I would not recommend.
Yes, I have seen the vBulletin AdminCP and it is not that decent. I highly prefer MyBB. Not because it is free, but because the features eliminate vBulletin. I do not even really understand why you have to purchase vBulletin.
