Gotta say you are request and posting a lot in this section.
There is already an active plugin which allows for you to post a status of some kind; Twitter. Omniscient implemented the plugin a while back and it serves the same purpose as posting an update on your profile as it has its own designated section on your profile page.
As for profile comments, it could be quite problematic as abusive comments may be posted which will bring further complaints and issues. I think it's probably best if we avoid such features, similar to why Omniscient removed negative reputations.

I don't think it would be necessary, adding too many plugins is not the way of doing things. And I noticed there's a twitter update area on some people's profiles. Use that one, like Skill had said.
Or set your account to Away from your UserCP with the reason.

I think this would be a good idea. It can't hurt to try it. Personally I think Twitter is retarded so I would never use it, I like this idea better.
