Quite entertaining tutorial, I really enjoyed watching it.
I must say, I've expected a bit advanced 3D. (don't mind this, you did a great job!) ;)
I don't like the effect (sorry), but important is that you show off techniques, again great job!
The text looks to me like painted text that's embeded into the background. The 3D effect should be deeper, so you actually get the feeling like you're looking at a 3D text object.
btw:
Did you tried under the option Technique at Bevel and Emboss, setting it to Chisel Hard. (i think that's the name, can't check right now)

Good work C4, I appreciate the time you have devoted to working on it.
The further away you set the shadow, the deeper the 3D goes.
That's the nice thing about using shadow for this, it's very adjustable.
Not saying the effect u got aint good looking, but there are better methods of getting 3D text which are (imo that is
) alot easier.
