My dad got a new computer, and says I can mess with the older crappy computer. Its a Dell Inpiron 531 I believe running on a AMD x2. My question is , can I replace the AMD x2 with a AMD x4 quad core. Might seem like a nub question, but its my first time doing this such thing without knowing for sure if it will work.

Thanks.
Yeah, you can upgrade from Dual Core processors to Quad Core.
again, like i posted on your thread on hf, it depends on your mobo, if it is socket 939, you cant, if you have am2 , you can.
Your going to have a bios update. Then you cant use any of the x4 processors over 95w it won't work
It really depends on your motherboard.
Find us your motherboard model and we can let you know for sure.
I don't know why you'd bother, Duo core ftw.
