In this tutorial i will explain how to Zero out your freespace/disk, which basically means deleting your deleted files permenantly.
Step 1: Open Disk Utility
Step 2: Click on Macintosh HD
Step 3: Click on Erase
Step 4: Click on "Erase Free Space"
When that is done a new window will appear.
Step 5: You should now be at this screen Now what you want to do is choose the option you want.
Summary of options:
Zero Out Deleted Files - This will quickly zero out your deleted files. It is not the best for protection, but it works.
7-pass Erase Of Deleted Files - This is the quickest one if you want security. It is 7 times longer as Zero out Deleted but it is the most reliable. (I use this one). Apparently this is what the CIA uses.
34-pass Erase Of Deleted Files - This is the most reliable of them all. Although it takes 35 times as long as the 7-Pass. This one will write zeroes over the deleted files multiple times.
