Is it password enabled?
Try this, on your internet browser just click on tools and then internet options, under the connection tab click on the lan settings and just check that the automatically detect settings is ticked.

this is checked
the problem seems to be that it can send out stuff but not receive it
Check the router's security settings or security key and sync with your laptop.
You may be working offline, open the internet and click file and it should say if your offline or online near the bottom.
If you have both WIFI and Cable LAN you may have a conflict over where your PC should obtain internet access from. Remove the Default Gateway from your cable LAN, if you have set any but set static IP, and set the WIFI connection to DHCP Enabled.

ok i have 2 desktops plugged in2 the router so this is a possibility but i have no idea how 2 do any of that stuff
Try this.
Goto tools, internet options, connection make sure the dot is on "Never Dial a connection". Then check the LAN settings make sure only automatically detect settings is on. The proxy setting should not be ticked as sometimes when downloading things it can change the settings.
