My aunt is having an issue with one of her USB ports not recognizing any new software, could this be a driver issue? If so what are the external USB ports labeled as in the device manager?
That really depends on the model. What type of computer is it?

HP Pavilion Notebook dv6 series
Is it only a single port or all USB ports?

Just a single port, she was using it for her mouse. She tried to flash my cousin's phone (whatever that means) and now the port wont recognize anything.

This is the solution if it was working previously?
If she was trying to flash a cell phone she probably blew the port.

Possible. Mabey the laptop got tossed around see if it's connected.

Reason : because if it is a mouse port then usb after using a flash cell phone will not work..

Well now she says that it goes in and out, works for a little then stops, so it isn't dead.
