Seriously Omni i feel its needed here.
We have many questions asked daily. In order to gauge the post and replies is important i feel.
It allows the community to know how the rest feel which i do feel is important however i do understand there is side effects to it. (perhaps forum based?)
But i have already seen some posts where i just wanted to hit a Great post button or thankyou button or whatever mainly to let the rest know how happy i was of the post. Sure instead i posted but i would anyway.
A nice button near the report button and it puts the username below the sig area sort of deal. Like you see on vB.
Seriously man. Maby even an added bit to the postbit to show thanks and threads thanked or some crap?
I suppose a "Thanks" button isn't the worst idea I have heard.

Look experienced users will see the wheat through he chaff but new registered users will be able to gauge this.
Valuable stats omni ;)
Trust me this is a big winner for here mate. IMHO ofcourse.
on HF the thanks button just said thanks is appreciated and then nothing happens
i support this but what does it even do on HF?

It doesn't do anything on HF, it's just, there.

And I also support the idea, I guess; but it isn't really, "needed."
I don't really have much of an opinion on this. I guess it would be alright if it didn't hog too much bandwidth.. but I could care less if this was implemented.
Maybe. This site doesn't have the resources problem that HF does.

In that case, I think this would be a fairly good idea.
Hm.. Maybe for users who have 200+ posts, the thanks button could add 1 reputation point? That'd be pretty awesome.
