My suggestion is that if a member is warned the staff member should send a PM with the infraction as well. This would allow the member to know what the staff member is talking about.
The warning you should be able to view along with what post it was from.

They won't be able to view the post if it is removed from the thread.
Maybe in that case if the user requests a more in depth reason they can contact the staff member, after all they're in the wrong so they should make the effort.
