Whats the point in a defrag?

If your like me, and the windows defrag is slow, poor and annoying, then smart defrag is for you. It's user friendly, fast and of course free to download. With the built in windows defrag, I couldn't actually do anything on my system or would it even complete due to me not defragging my system for a while and my system being well over 4 years old now.
